UPDATE 11/10/22: Xbox has confirmed that the device on Phil Spencer’s shelf is an old prototype for Keystone.
“The device on Phil’s shelf was an old prototype of Keystone. Earlier this year, we announced that we made the decision to pivot away from the current iteration of Keystone and are taking our learnings to refocus our efforts on a new approach that will allow us to deliver Xbox Cloud Gaming to more players around the world in the future. We have nothing more to share today,” reads a statement to Eurogamer.
Keystone, as the device was codenamed, was a small gadget intended as a device capable of streaming Xbox Game Pass titles to any monitor or TV screen without extra hardware.
Back in May, Xbox confirmed it was pivoting away from the Xbox Game Pass streaming box. It seems that Spencer was just leaving a cheeky nod to the past on his shelf, then.
